AfDB lends Ethiopia, Kenya $326 mln for roads

TUNIS (Reuters) - The African Development Bank (AfDB) had lent Ethiopia and Kenya $326 million to finance the expansion of a road network from Mombasa to Nairobi and Addis Ababa, the bank said on Wednesday.

"The project aims at improving transportation between Kenya and Ethiopia for the benefit of both countries and the region," the Tunis-based AfDB said.

On completion, the project is expected to reduce transport and shipping costs, cut transit times for import and export and increase the volume of Ethiopian good transiting through Kenya's Mombasa port.
