S.Africa's rand weakens to 6-week low to dollar

JOHANNESBURG (Reuters) - South Africa's rand weakened by more than one percent against the dollar on Tuesday as global appetite for risk fell on the back of more worries about a credit crisis.

At 0658 GMT, the rand was trading at 7.78 against the dollar, after weakening to 7.79 earlier, its weakest level since April 24. The rand closed at 7.7090 in New York on Monday.
