Actualising Empowerment - Forest Sector Transformation Charter - part 2
Victor Kgomoeswana

The Forest Sector Transformation Charter – Part 2

BEE need not be the preserve of the few. Since the Minister of Water Affairs & Forestry, Ms Lindiwe Hendricks launched the draft Forest Sector Charter for public comment on June 25th by, anybody can and – is invited to - contribute to its finalisation.

Democracy means the ability of the majority to determine their fate without undue restrictions. The transformation of the forestry sector is inextricably linked to land reform in South Africa. It is, therefore, only responsible for every citizen to get involved in shaping the final version of the Forest Sector Transformation Charter.

After receiving all public comments, the deadline for inputs is August 06th, the charter will be finalised and then submitted to the government for approval and eventual publication in the government gazette.

Where can you direct your inputs or even queries? Direct them to:

Dr Themba Simelane
The Head of the (Forest Sector Transformation Charter) Secretariat
Department of Water Affairs & Forestry

His contact details are:

Telephone        012-336-7740 (Tel)
Fax                   012-336-6667 (Fax)
E-mail                [email protected]

Remember to access the draft charter on the department’s website, www.dwaf.gov.za, and have your say.
