US stocks fall as ISM signals inflation

NEW YORK (Reuters) - U.S. stocks remained lower on

on Monday after a May reading for the Institute for Supply Management's index on manufacturing activity showed smaller-than-expected contraction but showed growing inflationary pressures.

The Dow Jones industrial average was down 87.77 points, or 0.69 percent, at 12,550.55. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index

was down 10.27 points, or 0.73 percent, at 1,390.11. The Nasdaq Composite Index was down 19.15 points, or 0.76 percent, at 2,503.51.
